Language Filter for YouTube
prototypeKeep your native language out of your YouTube feed so immersion learning has fewer easy exits.
Stay in the language you are trying to learn.
Language Filter for YouTube detects selected languages in video titles and channel names across Home and Shorts. When it finds one, it can use YouTube's own recommendation controls to mark the video as not interesting or stop recommending the channel, gradually training the feed around your immersion goals.
Script-based languages are detected instantly and offline. For Latin-based languages, the extension can use Chrome's on-device Language Detector API. Nothing needs to be sent to an external language-detection service, and a hide-only mode is available when you do not want to train recommendations.
Where it stands
The first prototype supports YouTube Home and Shorts, configurable languages,
channel-name matching, and immediate settings updates. Build it from the
public repository
and load the generated dist/ folder as an unpacked Chrome extension.
